Dear Colleagues,
Once again, a long weekend here affords a luxury of reading the international psychoanalysis website with more time and energy. While Rome seems to be burning in the rest of the world, I would recommend taking time out to scan the posts.
My own preferences this week are:
1) As I mentioned before, I am particularly fond of the history in our profession of Sabina Spielrein. Hence , I suggest viewing and reading David Cronenberg’s “ethod.” “A Dangerous Method,” starring Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender and Keira Knightley, takes place on the eve of World War I and looks at the relationship between the psychiatrist Carl Jung and his mentor Sigmund Freud. That relationship shifts when Jung takes on and develops a close bond to a new patient, Sabina Spielrein, played by Ms. Knightley. The film’s screenplay was adapted by Christopher Hampton from his stage play, “The Talking Cure.”

2.) Sylvia Ginsparg’s Book: Never Again is a continuing necessary reminder and hence should be read here again.
