September 23 in 1939 was also the Sabbath In Jewish tradition it is blessed to die on the Sabbath To die on a Sabbath which is also Yom Kippur is doubly blessed Was Freud who chose the day of his death aware that this was the Jewish tradition?
A personal note: My earliest lexical memory is reading about the death of Freud in 1939 in the Yiddish Forward I remembered the picture of a man with a beard. Several years ago I had the Forward archives searched and found following:
