Aaron Hilkevitch and the Anniversary of the Spanish Civil War

 

 

 

 

 

  Aaron Hilkevitch, who served as a medical doctor in the Spanish Republican Army during the civil war and was the last surviving Illinois member of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, died in Chicago on October 4. He was 96.

Jacobs, PhD,’s review of   Freud’s Free Clinics: Psychoanalysis and Social Justice, 1918-1938 by Elizabeth Ann Danto is timely in reminding us of the original connection between the rise of psychoanalysis and the European progressive social movement after WWI.  This is a must read for psychoanalysts of today.
