Song of the Murdered Jewish People:

Looking for the “Real” Yitzkhak Katzenelson

Poet and playwright Yitzkhak Katzenelson (1885-1944) was known chiefly for his work in Hebrew before World War II, especially in Lodz, where he helped found Ha-Bamah ha-‘Ivrit (The Hebrew Stage) Theater Company. But when he was incarcerated in the Warsaw Ghetto, he turned to Yiddish poetry as a way of reaching more readers. Read more…

Cultural and psychoanalytic heritage, role models and art looting from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear colleagues,

With the world remembering 9/11 and talk of war in the air again, it seems fitting yet again that our posts reflect the history of the world as well as of psychoanalytic thought. This week these reviews seem particularly pronounced. I will mention some in my own list below. Please feel free to comment on the website.

My choices this week are as follows:

1) To begin with, the Announcements Category is brimming with interesting events, and if you can attend any or all of them, please do. I am only focusing on 3 posts, but there are others.
a))Note the reprise to WWI and the Jews – the more things change the more they remain the same, n’est-ce pas?

The winds of war and dynamic view of historical events from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues,

the winds of war are upon us again – so I turn to the website to see if we can get any clarification of what human beings are about and up to in contemporary society and if we have any answers.
I have focused on a few posts, but hope that you will browse through the entire website and share your views.

My choices are as follows:

1) I am always struck by how people who emigrated to escape the Nazi regime survived or didn’t – please read the post in the ART or BOOK sections on “Stefan Zweig’s Impossible Exile and Facing History” – his enormous intellect, and drive turned into dust.

Aggression, evil, OCD, loss, neuroscience & “evidence” by Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues,

School year and work year having begun after the summer hiatus, I hope that you will continue to devote some time on the weekend to read the posts on our international psychoanalysis website. The world news brimming with aggression and hostility, let us try to obtain some answers and ask some questions as to why this is happening. I have chosen a few items of interest but please browse through the whole site and comment on the posts of your choice.
My recommendations are:

1) I suggest reading the Sept. APA Division 39 InSight im the announcements – does “Who Do We Want to Be? sound familiar?

Iraq, inhumanity, narcissism, autism & Woody Allen from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues,

As the Fall is slowing making its entrance and we are getting ready to start the new work year, please enjoy the last week of August reading the varied post on the international psychoanalytic website, most relevant to our daily lives, world and local news and of course to our work.
My choices this week are:

1) “ As if it isn’t bad enough to view videos and hear about people being killed – if you can, read about the cultural devastation in Iraq.

Before the world witnessed the full force of the Islamic State’s brutality in the video this past week showing American journalist James Foley’s murder, a different video revealed another kind of destruction the terrorist group is bent on inflicting.
