Male brains, ADHD (?), Himmler, Kristallnacht/Berlin Wall, landing on a comet from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues:

This has been a week of remembering historical events. Memorial Day of course commemorated the wars of the 20th and the current 21st century and the military sacrifices. It seems like a coincidence – though I wonder if nature/weather at this time of year has an effect on human mood and behavior – we also commemorated Kristallnacht on November 9-10 1938 and the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989.

The current and past political events are reelected on our website in posts which put an analytic slant on the world.

As usual I will not list previous Announcements, will tell you my current choices followed by the entire list of contents.

My choices this week are:

1) It seems that the books have it for me this week.

a) A new book about Himmler and Eichmann caught my eye: “No Banality in This Evil” – also reminiscent of the recent Bettina Stangneth’s powerful new book “Eichmann Before Jerusalem”.

Scientific Lecture: Postscripts: Reflections on the Post-Termination Phase

In certain situations, child, adolescent and adult analysands may return to the analyst following termination, either to touch base or to seek further treatment. A patient’s return may enable the analyst to critique not only the long-term outcome of her analytic work, but also the effects of the termination on the patient. These two aspects of the analysis are, of course, Continue reading Postscripts: Reflections on the Post-Termination Phase at WSI
