The Contemporary Freudian Society and The Institute of Psychoanalytic Training and Research
are pleased to invite IPA Candidates to a series of Master Clinical Case Conferences
led by Distinguished London Kleinian Fellows

This program is coordinated by Susan Finkelstein and her family and marks the conclusion of the Understanding Primitive Mental States program in its present form. An ongoing study group in New York City dedicated to learning about and working with patients with primitive anxieties and defenses, UPMS has been developed by Susan Finkelstein and 17 other analysts over the past eight years. At each clinical case conference, a candidate from an IPA institute will present to a scholar. Conferences are open exclusively to Candidates of IPA NYC Institutes.

Translating Object Relations Concepts into Practice with Couples: A Two Part Workshop Series (or one workshop)
Presenter: Judith Siegel, PhD, LCSW

Part I This workshop will focus on the concepts of projective identification and splitting, and examine how they emerge in the couple’s dynamics. We will then examine the ways that the therapist can intervene in the session, engage both parties in examining their relationship from a new perspective, and create changes in the ways that partners relate to each other. This is a ‘Save the Date” and Call for Papers. Submission of papers is invited (see below) .

The Conference will be at The George Washington University, Washington D.C., October 20-22, 2016, where clinicians, academics, and researchers will share knowledge and experience through plenary talks, paper sessions, small group roundtables and workshops and other special events.
