Transgendered children, optimism, depression and analysis from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues,

On the eve of a long weekend, I wanted to give you the opportunity to receive the contents of the international psychoanalytic website earlier, so that you would have time to read the posts with more leisure.

The variety of posts at least in my opinion is tied loosely together by a lighter than usual tone – perhaps to lift our mood out of the doldrums of the world’s environmental, financial and political turmoil. Of course that does not preclude some serious business -as in the Announcements which include advance notice of what to expect at the APsaA Chicago meetings.

The posts I want to point out are:

1) the numerous entries in the Art Category – to make you smile. Continue reading Transgendered children, optimism, depression and analysis from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Presidents’ mothers, neuuroscience/autism/self, men we mourn & more from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear colleagues,

This week it has been very difficult to focus a single theme as so much is happening in our analytic world. We wonder about the influence of mothers on world leaders, neuroscience interfaces with our approach in ethical questions regarding the loss of a “self”, in our understanding of autism and Asperger diagnosed children, we are finding more data on the atrocities of the Holocause and we mourn 3 men whose lives have touched so many – Jean Laplanche whose contribution to psychoanalysis is unforgettable and Maurice Sendak whose ability to use the unconscious to speak to children and adults is unsurpassable, and Bertram Cohler who meant so much to many of his students. I list them first in my choices. Continue reading Presidents’ mothers, neuuroscience/autism/self, men we mourn & more from Sasha Rolde on IP.net
