WORKSHOP :  STARTING A PRACTICE
Monday, January 11, 2010
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
———————————
Alan Schwartz, M.D. a psychiatrist in private practice in New York City since 1997, Analyst at the William Alanson White Institute and Editor of the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Mental health will be offering a three hour workshop on building and running a
private practice.~ He will cover:

*Basic Logistics to running the small business that is a psychiatric or psychotherapy practice
*How to market a new practice
*Practice Management – Basics
*How to make your practice a satisfying component of a fulfilling professional life (i.e. advanced practice management)
Starting a private practice can be terrifying.~
So much so that many psychiatrists/psychologists/social workers/therapists opt for salaried jobs, sometimes earning as little as half of what one can make in a private practice and sacrificing a tremendous amount of autonomy possible in private
practice.~ In a floundering economy, this can be even more frightening, but this workshop will show you how, based upon principles, many of which were learned through experience, you can, in any economy build a thriving and rewarding private practice.
This will be as interactive as attendees wish to make it, so feel free to bring questions, concerns and experiences.
