Clinical Treatment
Historic Cases of Darwin, Austen, Carlyle, Swift, & Browning

Early family pathology and psychic conflict have long been known to contribute to the causation and maintenance of many physical symptoms and illnesses for which medical treatments alone are often inadequate to effect improvement. Among these conditions are hypochondria, gastrointestinal complaints such as eating disorders and colitis, bronchial asthma, infertility, impotence, chronic fatigue syndrome, and many others.  This course will include clinical material as well as discussion of familiar historic cases of Darwin, Jane Austen, Carlyle, Swift, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning.  Readings will be provided.
