A play exploring the transmission of trauma covering three generations: a holocaust survivor, her child , and her grandchild. The play is written by Rivka Bekerman-Greenberg,Ph.D.
Following the play will be a discussion with the audience and other members of our community: Robert Prince,Ph.D. and Susanna Neumann, Ph.D., and moderated by Ronnie Levine, Ph.D., CGP, FAGPA.

A Group Discussion with the audience, the playwright and 2 panelists, Robert Prince, Ph.D. ABPP, and Susanna Neumann, Ph.D., will follow the staged play reading, focusing on the impact of trauma, transmitted from one generation to the next. The discussion will be moderated by Ronnie Levine, Ph.D., CGP, FAGPA
“Eavesdropping on Dreams” tells the story of three generations of women in a family of a Holocaust survivor. It conveys the family dynamics, conflicts and cross-generational transmission of the Holocaust trauma, interweaving dreams, historical material and authentic songs from the Lodz Ghetto. +The audience will be invited to share reactions and reflections on trans-generational transmission of trauma.
Rivka Greenberg , Ph.D. is a graduate of the NYU Postdoctoral program in and psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, and has recently joined the teaching faculty of the Institute for contemporary Psychoanalysis. Dr. Greenberg, who is a child of Holocaust survivors, had been on the adjunct faculty of the Traumatic Stress Studies Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center. The program provided group therapy for Holocaust survivors and their children.
Robert Prince, Ph.D.,ABPP is a graduate and faculty member of the NYU-Post-doctoral Program in Psychotherapy&Psychoanalysis.In addition to his many articles and two editing books, He is the author of the Legacy of the Holocaust: Psychohistorical Themes in the Lives of Children of Survivors.
Susanna Neumann , Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and graduate of the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, specializing in psychoanalysis and child and adolescent psychology. She on the faculty of Down State Medical School. Dr. Neumann is involved in collecting oral histories of Holocaust survivors for the Yale archives. She is a child of survivors.
