Dr. Antonia New will discuss impaired habituation to positive and negative emotional stimuli in borderline personality disorder: a possible mechanism for poor response to psychotherapy. Dr. New’s research focuses on the phenomenology and the underlying neural substrate in borderline personality disorder. She uses brain imaging techniques, genetic studies, and laboratory assessment of behavior to explore mechanisms of treatment and to develop novel treatments for borderline personality disorder. In addition, she examines the trajectory of at risk adolescents, seeking predictors and biomarkers for the development of adult BPD.
