This presentation will feature a discussion of Psychoanalysis: Critical Conversations: Selected Papers by Arnold Richards, Volume 1 (IP Books, 2015). The book is edited by Arthur Lynch.
The book covers a broad range of topics ranging from early history of our field, the contributions of Kohut, the hermeneutic science of Gill and Hoffman, interpersonal and relational theory, and finally a section on modern conflict theory. Some well known analysts have contributed or co-authored some chapters. We are fortunate to have the participation of Dr. Ken Fuchsman to lead off our discussion. Arthur Lynch will also participate.
Arnold Richards, M.D. was editor of JAPA from 1994 to 2003 and before that was an editor of TAP. He is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, a member of the New York Freudian Society, and an honorary member of the Karen Horney Clinic and the New Jersey Psychoanalytic Society. He is currently on the faculty at Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology at Wuhan, China. He has co-edited four books. He is the publisher of internationalpsychoanalysis.net and ipbooks.net. He is in private practice.
Ken Fuchsman, Ed.D. is a historian who teaches interdisciplinary studies courses at the University of Connecticut, where he has served in a variety of capacities for thirty years. In 2000, Dr. Fuchsman was appointed Director of the Bachlelor of General Studies Program at all six UConn campuses. He administered the program for six years before returning to teaching full time. Dr. Fuchsman has also written extensively on the history of psychoanalysis.
Arthur A. Lynch, Ph.D., who is editor of “Psychoanalysis: Critical Conversations: Selected Papers by Arnold Richards, Volume 1,” is the former President of the Board of Directors, a senior Faculty member, and Training and Supervising Analyst at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis. He is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University School of Social Work and a Visiting Professor and head of training for the Chinese American Psychoanalysis continuous training program at the Wuhan Hospital for Psychotherapy affiliated with Tongji Medical School, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China. Dr. Lynch has authored and co-authored numerous articles on psychoanalysis. He is co-editor of “Encounters with Loneliness, Only the Lonely” with Arlene K. Richards and Lucille Spira (2013) (Winner of the Gradiva Award for Anthologies – 2014) and “The Rapaport – Holt Correspondence” Arthur A. Lynch, (editor) I.P. Books Press. Dr. Lynch is in private practice in New York City.
