The Contemporary Parent in the Workplace

Ferne is a psychoanalyst and executive coach who assists organizations with the development of corporate cultures that foster the integration of employees’ work/life needs.

In this case conference, Ferne will present a webinar developed to highlight the challenges faced by both women and men in their transition to working parent. She will:

a) Discuss gender stereotypes in the workplace and illustrate how they are perpetuated, often unconsciously, by both genders.

b) Illustrate how she works with employees who are new parents to help them avoid negative or distorted thinking.

c) Highlight the importance of work/life integration for all employees, not just new parents.

d) Demonstrate how she draws on her psychoanalytic understanding in her work with new parents in the workplace.

Ferne Traeger is Founder of Beyond the Boardroom, a consultancy that focuses on supporting organizations in their efforts to facilitate the employee’s transition to working parent. Learning Objectives:

-Participants will gain an understanding of gender bias in the workplace and how it adversely impacts both women and men

-Participants will gain insight about the benefits of work/life integration for all employees

-Participants will better understand how psychodynamic thinking informs a consultant’s work with organizations

Note: CE Social Workers: Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, Inc. (IPTAR) SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0226. (1.5) CE credits will be granted to participants who have registered, have documented evidence of attendance of the entire program and have completed the on-line evaluation form. Upon completion of the evaluation form a Certificate of Completion will be emailed to all participants who comply with these requirements. The Case Conference series consists of a presentation of case material from an organizational consultation, an executive coaching engagement, or a presentation relevant to systems-psychodynamic thinking and practice. The format is interactive and all who attend are invited to present.
