WHY ARE CHILDREN OPPOSITIONAL? They may feel FRIGHTENED; VULNERABLE (Fear of failure makes them anxious); they may feel ANGRY; and may have difficulty with not getting what they need. Oppositional children who are very irritable need help regulating their emotions. In this presentation we will discuss the importance of understanding how children protect themselves from becoming aware of painful feelings. Such an understanding may be helpful in finding ways to help them adapt successfully to the normal stresses of development.
