Drawing on the YIVO archives, including found footage of holiday balls, cartoons from the Forverts, immigrants’ autobiographies, and landsmanshaftn records, historians Eddy Portnoy (Rutgers, YIVO), Roberta Newman (YIVO), Daniel Soyer (Fordham), and Rebecca Kobrin (Columbia) present a rarely seen slice of New York Jewish life in the 1920s and 30s. With moderator Annie Polland (Tenement Museum). Co-presented with MCNY.
