WWII, Berlin Wall, science bubble, Yale & ethics from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues:

At the beginning of this month, the mood is rather sombre, drawing us back to WWII with Veterans Day, the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 and the results of elections this week, for which the turnout heralds that of 1947. These events are reflected in some of the posts on our website this week. As usual I will not list previous Announcements, will tell you my current choices followed by the entire list of contents.

My choices this week are:

1) what happened to the remaining Jewish population after WWII. Please read Jews and the Berlin Wall at Leo Baeck Institute

2) Frankly, I don’t really want to recommend this book, as it is so upsetting, but feel that we should all be aware, know about it, and try to put our psychoanalytic understanding to the human condition, to society and how it is ultimately “governed?”

XXIX. On ***Closed Mind*** Panel by Dr. Jorge E. Garc**a Badaracco
In 2009 at the IPA meetings in Berlin, there was a panel called the Closed Mind. Jorge Garcia Badaracco from Argentina, now deceased, wrote a very forward thinking paper that I think is relevant today. It has never been published and I am pleased to post it here in the hope that all psychoanalysts read it seriously. For me, it holds answers to many of the dilemmas our profession faces in today***s world.
