We are writing to tell you about a series of upcoming recruitment events at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. NYPSI has a long history of providing excellent training in adult and child psychoanalysis to psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. Interested prospective candidates are encouraged to apply by spring 2015 for matriculation in the fall of 2015. In advance of this we are offering a series of lectures, events, and meetings for prospective applicants.

On October 16 at 7:15 pm we will be hosting an open house for prospective applicants at NYPSI (247 East 82nd Street). At the open house, two of our faculty members will present material on dreams and countertransference that we hope highlights the work we do. The material and discussion will introduce applicants to psychoanalytic thinking as well as show how psychoanalysis is an exciting and alive part of current clinical practice. The evening is an opportunity to also meet and mingle with current candidates, recent graduates, and members of the NYPSI faculty. Following this we will be offering three evenings of case conferences presented by current candidates and moderated by a senior NYPSI faculty member.

In addition we would like to extend the opportunity to interested applicants to meet with candidates and faculty in an informal and more personal setting. We will be arranging for mentorship groups to meet in an ongoing manner to discuss anything related to psychoanalysis, from discussing their own cases to answering questions about training and having an analytic practice.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We hope that you will send this letter and open house invitation to your students and supervisees and encourage them to pursue psychoanalytic training. We are also available to come to speak with your students directly if you feel this would be helpful.

Sincerely,
Allison Lomonaco
