Yivo: Fall Season is Now Online!

FallYIVO

Dear Friends,

What an extraordinary season we have planned for you at YIVO. This fall we’re proud to present: the U.S. premiere of Letters to Afar at the Museum of the City of New York; a brand-new Artists and Scholars Series; lectures; panels; theater and puppet performances; an artist and scholar collaboration; programs in Yiddish; an artist-in-residence with Letters’ creator Péter Forgács, and more. Visit here for a complete list of fall offerings.

Want to delve deeper into program content? This season, we’re excited to introduce pre-event study groups and post-show discussions at a number of our programs. On Tuesday, September 30, debate the views and work of Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko during our first study group with Professor Gennady Estraikh (NYU), who joins YIVO this fall as the inaugural Albert B. Ratner Visiting Scholar in East European Jewish Literature. Post-show discussions will be held at all Artists and Scholars Series programs on October 30, November 20 and December 11.

We’re getting ready for our 90th anniversary next year and want your input! This season we’re soliciting your program ideas for our 90th. Pitch an idea for a public program, we’ll select our favorite, and work with the winner to produce their event in 2015. Program ideas will be accepted until December 14, 2014 and the winner will be announced early next year. To submit your suggestions, email hgindi@yivo.cjh.org with the subject heading “YIVO’s 90th Anniversary” or visit the YIVO table at any event this season and submit your idea. How should we celebrate our 90th anniversary?

If you enjoy these and other programs at YIVO, do consider supporting our season—our public programs depend on you. To donate now visit here.

We look forward to seeing you at YIVO this fall!

Best wishes,

Helena Gindi
Public Program Director
