Before World War II Lithuania was home to 250,000 Jews. During the Holocaust, over ninety percent of Lithuanian Jewry was killed, and today there are roughly 5,000 Jews in Lithuania.
Join EU Parliament Member Leonidas Donskis and celebrated Lithuanian poet and dissident Tomas Venclova to discuss critical issues facing Jews in Lithuania today, and the controversy surrounding the mainstream perception of the Holocaust in Lithuania. Can Lithuania come to terms with its past? This panel includes Leonidas Donskis, Tomas Venclova, Faina Kukliansky, Chair of the Lithuanian Jewish Community, Saulius Suziedelis, eminent historian, and Mikhail Iossel, Moderator.
