The presenter will focus on the personality disorders that are more accessible to the treatment modalities currently available, on those which are difficult to treat, and those which go beyond our current abilities, such as the extremely narcissistic, the anti-social, and psychopathic.

Faces of Trauma: Painting the Unseen Among Us
Award-winning Documentary: Struggles in Paradise
This filmmaker/psychoanalyst painted portraits in oil of 110 homeless people on Venice Beach, CA. The faces on canvas and the interviews in the film force the viewer to bear witness to the long-lasting consequences of trauma. The psychological journey of this project will be discussed and excerpts from the film will be shown.

Us. Them and the “Others”: Consideration of “Belongingness” and Where We Feel at Home
The writer will examine the paradoxical nature of “otherness” through the Relational prism of certain marginalized and traumatized groups of LGBTQ people. Case material will focus on implications for our psychoanalytic “connectivity” with these patients and beyond, exploring how the analyst’s subjective life, mind, and psychology inform this analytic space.

Political Aggression: Effects on Bonding and the Immigration Experience
Growing up within the context of chronic and chaotic political aggression and violence has a profound impact on the shaping of self, experience, and response to trauma. This paper will describe how socio-political surround in the country of origin affects the immigration experience to the U.S. in the struggle as “other” in search of home.
