UNDERSTANDING CHILDREN’S EMOTIONS: VIEWS FROM NEUROSCIENCE AND CLINICAL WORK
On November 17th, WCSPP’s Keynote Speaker and Recipient of the Award for Distinguished Scientific Early Career Contribution to Psychology, Prof. Seth Pollak will share his landmark research on the mechanisms of emotional development, including not just neuroscience but also psychophysics and behavioral endocrinology. This innovative combination of methods is drawing international interest. Dr. Kenneth Barish, Clinical Assoc. Professor of Psychology at Weil Medical College – Cornell University, will then engage in dialogue with Dr. Pollak and share a clinical understanding of children’s emotions. After an attendees’ luncheon, Drs. Pollak and Barish will be joined by WCSPP faculty members, Dr. Jane Bloomgarden and Ms. Kate Washton, for a panel discussion about how parents can promote children’s emotional health. WCSPP alumna Ms. Janet Shimer will moderate. This event offers CE credits.
