New Names for the New York Freudian Society and its Institute

The New York Freudian Society and its Institute are now:

The Contemporary Freudian Society and The Psychoanalytic Training Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society

The new names, like our Institute’s curricula, reflect our contemporary focus as well as our respect for our Freudian heritage. This name change captures the geographic breadth of our membership and the fact that we have Adult Psychoanalysis and Fellowship Programs in both New York City and Washington, DC. In New York, we also offer programs in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and Parent-Infant Treatment as well as training that enables graduates to obtain the NY State License in Psychoanalysis (LP) credential. The Contemporary Freudian Society, an inter-disciplinary organization comprised of 221 members, was founded in 1959. We are a Component Society of the International Psychoanalytical Association.
