The New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, in celebration of the Centenary of its Society, presents David Denby, film critic for The New Yorker discussing “Do Movies Have a Future?”
Denby appears under the auspices of the NYPSI Centenary Cinema Series and the NYPSI Scientific Program Committee.
David Denby began writing film criticism while a student in Stanford’s Communication Department, and has served as film critic of The Atlantic Monthly, The Boston Phoenix, New York magazine, and since 1998 The New Yorker.
His articles and essays have also appeared in The New Republic and The New York Review of Books. He has written two books, Great Books, his account of returning to Columbia in order to take its core curriculum courses for the second time; and American Sucker, which chronicled his misadventures in the stock market during the tech bubble.
Denby attended Columbia College and Columbia Journalism School.
