AAPDP’s 13th Annual Joint Meeting with OPIFER
November 12-13, 2011 – Rome, Italy       

The American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry (AAPDP) is holding its thirteenth joint meeting with the Organizzazione di Psicoanalisti Italiani-Federazione e Registro (OPIFER) in Rome, November 12-13, 2011. The theme of the meeting is “Psychoanalytic Training Today. In the Footsteps of Silvano Arieti.” 

 We are honored that Dr. John T. Walkup, Vice Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Director, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center will be the Keynote Speaker. He will talk on “Challenges of Teaching Psychodynamics in Modern Psychiatry Training Programs.” Other outstanding speakers from the USA and Europe include: Dr. Erminia Scarcella, Academy Fellow and Trustee, faculty member of George Washington University Medical College and Designated Physician of the Embassy of Italy, and Dr. Nisba Husain, Psychiatric Member of the Academy and Sackler Fellow at Weill Cornell College of Medicine.

 This is the first time the Joint Meeting has been held inRome. November is an ideal time to visit theEternalCity; the weather is still good and there are fewer tourists. The meeting venue is the Centro di Formazione “Polo Didattico” situated in Piazza Oderico da Pordenone, easily reached by public transportation or taxi from centralRome.
