PRESS RELEASE

Psychoanalyst and English Professor to discuss the play
“FREUD’S LAST SESSION”, written by Mark St. Germain
September 16
Gem & Century Theatres
333 Madison Street
Detroit, MI 48201

“Freud’s Last Session” allows the audience to witness the legendary psychoanalyst, Dr. Sigmund Freud, engage in heated discourse with the then little-known professor, C.S. Lewis. On the day England enters World War II, Freud invites Lewis to his home in London. Lewis expects to be criticized for having ridiculed Freud in a recent book; instead the two passionately and poignantly differ on the existence of God, love, sex, and the meaning of life. This play is based on the book: The Question of God by Dr. Armand Nicholi, Jr.

Join us on Friday, September 16, 2011, when the Michigan Psychoanalytic Society will sponsor two speakers to discuss the play. They are:

Elton Higgs, Ph.D, an Emeritus Professor of English, who taught for 36 years at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. His academic specialty is medieval English literature, as well as being a writer of poetry and prose meditations.
Julie Jaffee Nagel, Ph.D., on the faculties of Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry, and a practicing Psychologist and Psychoanalyst in Ann Arbor. Currently she is writing a book, Melodies of the Mind for Routledge Press and has a regular blog on Performance Anxiety for Psychology Today.
