Christopher Shinn, Michael Stahl-David and Andrew Gerber, MD, PhD to Participate in Panel Discussion at Barnes & Noble Union Square
Pulitzer finalist Playwright Christopher Shinn and actor Michael Stahl-David, who stars in Shinn’s Picked at the Vineyard Theatre, will participate in a panel discussion entitled “The Meaning of the Human Soul in the Light of Technologies,” which will be presented at Barnes & Noble Union Square on Sunday, May 1 at 5:30pm.
In Picked, a legendary, big-budget film director submits his young leading man to a series of personal questions during MRI scans in the hopes of gleaning information about the actor’s psyche that the director can use in the construction and direction of his newest film.
The panelists, who also include psychoanalyst and APsaA member Andrew Gerber, MD, PhD, will examine advances in neuroscience and neuron-imaging as a way of exploring what can and can’t be known about the human soul. It will also consider how artists will interact with a new era of brain research and what it may or may not tell us about the deepest reaches of human experience. Shinn is a past Fellow of APsaA.
