Year Long Seminar on Infant Observation with NYFS

The Child and Adolescent Training Program has instituted a year long infant observation as part of it’s curriculum. We have two spaces available for members or candidates who are interested in this deeply enlightening process. To reserve a space, please contact me, Kimberly Kleinman, Co-Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Training Program at 646 942 8716 or kim@kskleinman.com

The Seminar will be led by Rita Reiswig, and she describes the seminar in more detail below:

INFANT OBSERVATION SEMINAR

Naturalistic observation of an infant in a family setting provides a powerful learning experience. Psychoanalytic exploration of the observational details, closely observed moments of the baby’s experience, create unparalleled opportunities for understanding early psychological and emotional development. Infant observation also captures themes that emerge in the mother’s and father’s attributions, projections and preoccupations.

This year long seminar will begin at the end of September 2011 and continue until early June 2012. The weekly class will meet from 8:00 to 9:30 PM on Tuesday evenings at the home of Rita Reiswig, 30 West 86th Street. Although Infant Observation has been taught in the Infant Program since 1997, this is a first time offering of this course, part of our curriculum going forward, for the Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Program.

Rita Reiswig , a faculty member of the Child and Adolescent Training Program and the Co-Director of the Anni Bergman Parent Infant Program, and Gloria Demby, on the faculty of the Anni Bergman Program, will lead the seminar. If you have any questions, please contact Rita Reiswig at 212 875 9442 or at rreiswig@me.com .
