Generational Interactions: Case Material from Group and Dyadic Interactions in Client Systems

Presenters will share case data from multiple consultations with leadership groups involving members of different ages, gender, and industries. We will explore notable interactions across generations.
Topics Include:
Sharing models and frameworks to understand multiple levels within systems
Sharing case material pointing to generational influences
Demonstrating the richness of co-analyzing case material
Teaching and Learning Method: Presentations of Case Material and Group Discussion

Models of Understanding System dynamics
Examining intergroup, intragroup, and interpersonal processes within the workplace
Effects of anxiety and envy on person-in-role, leadership and collaboration
Influence of age and gender identity on leadership groups in the workplace
Melissa Extein, Psy.D., founder and principal of Extein Consulting, consults to organizations and groups from many sectors, especially philanthropy and social justice. Her clients include start-ups, grant makers, and non-profits inside and outside the US. Additionally, Melissa teaches organizational assessment and diagnosis, leadership, and group dynamics to graduate students at The New School and the University of Pennsylvania. She previously served as Director of Strategic Learning, Research, and Evaluation for International Programs at American Jewish World Service. Melissa holds a PsyD. in Organizational Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University and a B.A. from Yale University. She is accredited to administer the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI) and is fluent in Spanish. You can reach Melissa at: melissaextein@gmail.com
Dahlia Radley-Kingsley MBA, MA is an experienced international management and organizational consultant who specializes in executive and leadership coaching, board and senior team development, succession planning, organizational assessment, founder and family business advisory, consulting to diverse and multigenerational environments, and the assessment and development of virtual teams. Dahlia has clients ranging from senior executives and their teams, professional partnerships, Fortune 500 companies, technology start-ups, large family businesses, and non-profit organizations.
She is Chair of the Case Conference Series at the L.J. Gould Center for organizational systems studies, has received certified training in the Newfield Institute’s executive coaching methodology, trained as a clinician in psychoanalytic studies and worked in the IPTAR clinic and served on its board of directors. Social Workers: The Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, Inc. (IPTAR) SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0226.
Licensed Psychoanalysts: The Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for Licensed Psychoanalysts (P-0011).
(3.5) CE credits will be granted to participants who have registered, have documented evidence of attendance of the entire program and have completed the on-line evaluation form. Upon completion of the evaluation form a Certificate of Completion will be emailed to all participants who comply with these requirements. CE Administrative Fee: $25 Payable at the event.
The Case Conference Series consists of presentations of applied material from an organizational consultation, executive coaching engagement, or presentation relevant to systems-psychodynamic thinking and practice.
