Based on selected readings of Freud’s and Lacan’s texts, this seminar addresses the specificity of clinical analysis and its aim, reflecting on savoir-faire in the transference and the ends of the cure.
Readings for February 24th: J. Lacan, Logical Time and The Assertion of Anticipated Certainty (Ecrits); J.Lacan, La psychiatrie anglaise et la guerre (L’Evolution Psychiatrique, 1947).
Paola Mieli is a psychoanalyst practicing in New York City. She is the president of Après-Coup Psychoanalytic Association (New York), a member of Le Cercle Freudien (Paris), of Insistance (Paris), of Encore (Paris), an honorary member of The European Federation of Psychoanalysis (Strasbourg), and an Associate Researcher at the Centre de Recherches en Psychanalyse, Médicine et Société at the University of Paris VII–Diderot. She is the author of numerous essays on psychoanalysis and on culture published in Europe and America.
Attendance fee: $20 per meeting
For students with ID: $10 per meeting
Attendance is free for all members of Après-Coup as well as for the faculty and students of the School of Visual Arts.
