Psychoanalysis in El Barrio at WCSPP

PSYCHOANALYSIS IN EL BARRIO
Friday, November 11, 2016, 7:00 P.M., Admission: $10, Refreshments will be served

“Psychoanalysis in El Barrio,” winner of the PEP 2015 Video grant, details the excitement and challenges of clinical work with Hispanic patients who are affected by poverty and contests the notion that these patients can only benefit from therapies that rely on very concrete, behavioral interventions. The documentary features renowned clinicians working with patients in a number of cities throughout the United States discussing their treatment experiences and sharing their views regarding the benefits of utilizing psychoanalytic concepts in their work.

We are pleased to have two analysts, Carlos Padron (Venezuela) and Christopher Christian (Puerto Rico), who are featured in the film, along with Irene Studwell from WCSPP, to lead the discussion of the important issues raised in this documentary.

This film was made possible by a generous grant from Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP), with the support of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR)
