A LONG-TERM PSYCHOANALYTIC TREATMENT OF A TRAUMATIZED MAN WITH AN OBSESSIONAL ADAPTATION:
DETAILS OF THE PROCESS AND THE PROCESSING OF DETAILS
Stefan R. Zicht, Psy.D. will present verbatim process material from a long-term psychoanalytic treatment of a traumatized man with an obsessional adaptation. Utilizing concepts originating in the Interpersonal psychoanalytic traditions of Harry Stack Sullivan and Erich Fromm and their more contemporary elaborations, varieties of participant-observation and detailed inquiry will be highlighted. Additionally, attention will be paid to the therapist’s fostering an expressive and experiential clinical encounter that privileges authenticity and helps bridge isolation of affect and false-self adaptations.
