Lacan’s construction of the graph of desire logically presents the various operations that characterize the relation of the subject to the Other. Starting from the articulation of language, Lacan addresses identification, desire, phantasm, the drive, and lack in the Other.

Suggested Readings: Lacan, Seminar V, Les Formations de l’inconscient, 1957/58; Seminar VI, Le désir et son interprétation, 1958/59; “The Subversion of the Subject and the Dialectic of Desire” (1960), Écrits.
