When a Child Becomes a Pawn in Divorce: How Play Therapy Altered the Equation
Wednesday, March 11, 2015
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
The role of play therapy in helping a young child resolve an enmeshed relationship with her mother will be explored. The family was undergoing a difficult divorce in which the child was used as a pawn. Through weekly psychoanalytic therapy, the child was able to overcome her role as protector of her mother, develop herself, improve other family relationships and work out issues with her peers.
PRESENTER: Rachel Stein, L.M.S.W. Graduate: Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Child and Adolescent Program. Ms. Stein previously worked as a school social worker for the NYC DOE for six years.
LOCATION: 160 West 86th Street (outside entrance, between Amsterdam & Columbus Avenues)
