IPTAR West Conference room: 140 West 97th Street – NYC
Kathleen Pogue White, Ph.D.

“The fear of fading :some thoughts from a psychoanalytic perspective on developing in the role of Elder with sophistication, grace and high organizational impact”
The role of elder is critical to the development, support and care of future through the
transmissions of wisdom, authority and power. We are holding the hypothesis that the role of elder is a developmental stage competency that most of us, women and men alike, encounter with an unwanted return of a crisis of identity. One can find one’s self becoming preoccupied with staving off shifts in self-perception with muted or no awareness of the intergenerational impact of one’s developmental struggle on one’s organization and on one’s life. We will elaborate these ideas using a recent organizational consultation and coaching engagement.
Dr. White is a psychoanalyst, who applies the core knowledge and principles to her work in organizational consultation, executive coaching and leadership development. Dr. White is a board member of ISPSO and director of Systems-Psychodynamic Studies at IPTAR.
