Brian Kloppenberg will present clinical material from a four year, one session per week therapy with a male patient who suffers from an  obsessional neurosis. The treatment vignettes will provide an opportunity to understand more fully how psychoanalytic psychotherapy  utilizes psychoanalytic principles within a modified framework. Crucial concepts such as positive transference, defensive process, and interpretive action will be explored within the context of a successful, ongoing treatment that has led to a substantial reduction in psychic
difficulties for the patient.
