Reading Group on “Freud’s Papers on Technique”.
From 1911 to 1914, Freud developed a series of articles intended to address the question of technique in the practice of Psychoanalysis. These papers, which were put together under the general title “Paper’s on Technique”, included six articles: “The Handling of Dream-interpretation in Psychoanalysis” (1911), “The Dynamics of Transference” (1912), “ Recommendations to Physicians Practicing Psychoanalysis” (1912), “On Beginning the Treatment” (1913), “Remembering, Repeating and Working Through” (1914), and “Observations on Transference Love” (1914).
In anticipation of Paola Mieli’s Seminar “On Savoir-Faire and the Frame of the Cure”, we will be reading these articles together, closely following Freud’s texts for comments, questions and discussions.
The group, led by Lillian Ferrari and Manya Steinkoler, will meet every other Thursday @8:30 Pm, beginning October 17th.
