This is a study of psychoanalytic treatment outcome using attachment as a measure of analyst/ analysand match: to what degree this is a factor that predicts outcome at one year and beyond. This proposal suggests honing down to a specific factor in “match”: the relationship between analyst’s attachment working model and the analysand’s. As a pilot study, we aim to study and clarify empirically what attachment types of analysts/analysands could be matched or mismatched relationship, and possible features of matched or mismatched dyads.

Students, academics and clinical professionals in the analytic community are encouraged to attend.

Educational Objectives: Attendees will be able to
1. Identify the possible benefits in a matched relationship and potential risks in a mismatched relationship.
2. Recognize the degree to which attachment may contribute to outcome of treatment and analysand’s satisfaction with analyst.
