Although it is being successfully implemented for exploration of the genome, discovery science has eluded the functional neuroimaging community. The core challenge remains the development of common paradigms for interrogating the myriad functional systems in the brain without the constraints of a priori hypotheses. Resting-state functional MRI (R-fMRI) constitutes a candidate approach capable of addressing this challenge. Imaging the brain during rest reveals large-amplitude spontaneous low-frequency (

Students, academics and clinical professionals in the analytic community are encouraged to attend. Members of the general public are also welcome.
Educational Objectives: After attending, participants will be able to
1. Recognize at least 3 commonly identified resting-state networks and name the psychological processes currently associated with those networks.
2. Appreciate the preliminary functional implications of positive and negative functional connections for mental processes.
3. Discuss the implications of inter-individual variability in network architecture as a basis for further explorations of mechanisms of psychopathology.
