IPA Prague Congress July 31st to August 3rd, 2013

IPALogo

Dear colleague,

Registration is now open for the Prague Congress, July 31st – August 3rd. The Congress celebrates the revival of psychoanalysis in Central and Eastern Europe, which the hard work of many colleagues has accomplished in recent years. Prague is an historic European city of architectural beauty, the home of a rich contemporary cultural life and tradition.

The theme of the Congress is “Facing the Pain: Clinical Experience and the Development of Psychoanalytic Knowledge”. The Congress aims to provide its participants with opportunities to discuss with colleagues the fundamental relation of clinical observation to the preservation and development of psychoanalytic knowledge. We want every participant to have opportunities to engage with colleagues in enquiries into the ways in which clinical observation can be used to evaluate the therapeutic worth of interpretations and the theories they imply. Freud said that the task of clinical psychoanalysis is to replace neurotic suffering with ordinary human unhappiness. Psychoanalysis cannot change the world, but it can ameliorate neurotic suffering and greatly benefit the way that individuals can live their lives, and relate to their families, societies and the world.

We warmly invite you to join in the Congress enquiries by day, enjoy the pleasures of Prague by night, and to make new friends by both day and night.

You can begin the registration procedure by clicking here

We look forward to seeing you at the Congress.

Best wishes,

Charles Hanly (President)

Gunther Perdigao (Secretary General)
