Newtown posts, NRA & gun control, APsaA’s position statement from Sasha Rolde at IP.net

Dear Colleagues,

It has been a long week of national soul searching an solution suggesting in response to the extraordinary massacre in Newtown, Ct. From those who propose the abolition of the NRA to others who wish to place armed guards in all schools, we are bombarded by extremes. The posts on the international psychoanalytic website are an attempt to bring to you a reasoned representation of the world at large, with hopefully not as many extremes, but much to ponder. As I sorted through the list, I was particularly struck by the following but also encourage you to follow your own interests. My choices were:

1) Of interest to those of you who plan to attend the IPA meetings in July 2013 may be the post Congress Psychological Birth and Infant Development Symposium in Pribor, Czech Republic.

V. Donations to InternationalPsychoanalysis.net

Internationanalpsychoanalysis.net has flourished in a remarkable way since it was launched in January 2007. It has become both an archive and a news source.

One of the serendipitous outgrowths of its presence and has been that we have even more reasons to experience ourselves as a community with a history, elders, anniversaries, anecdotes, a paper trail, photos and relics of our founders *** and evidence of our on-going growth and adaptation to a very changed therapeutic world.

But the growth has outpaced the cottage and one computer.

Are you able to contribute to the cost of our widening scope?
We will use contributions to internationalpsychoanalysis.net to scan and transcribe papers, search archives, find photographs format documents and upload recordings and videos. It is labor intensive and for me a labor of love [but for the helpers, indeed, work].

A NURSERY OF VIOLENCE?

The chicken bobbed around, darting now here, now there. Randomly. There was no head. I couldn***t help noticing. I was 5 years old. These images have never left my mind. They never will. It was rumored there was a lot of domestic violence at his house.
