Stekel, Freud, China, Petraeus and Gaza from Sasha Rolde On InternationalPsychoanalysis.net

Dear Colleagues,

Obviously world tranquility is illusory and evanescent. With the Gaza unrest this week, various resignations in leadership, to mention but a couple of the latest “storms”, our last week’s relief is a distant memory. The international psychoanalytic blog reflects these almost immediate shifts on the horizon. Some of the categories, such as the BOOKS, contain such wonderful material that they present me with a veritable quandary as to which post to chose. Therefore I want to direct your attention to a few of the posts, but hope that you will give at least a glance to all.

My choices are as follows:

1) Dr. Nathan Szajnberg’s 4 Ticho lectures are a must read! We are grateful to him.

 2) Wilhelm Stekel’s contributions to psychoanalytic history as depicted in the book “I was Freud’s apostle, he was my Christ” is superbly reviewed by Zvi Lothane. Please read and learn.

3) “whereas Freud might still survive in other countries only in pieces, in Argentina he’s an icon”- Better than fiction: True travel tales from great fiction writers, edited by Don George gives an account of this quote.

4) Modern China, its new leader, dialogue with the US and superb new architecture are harbingers of the future.

5) The GENERAL NEWS Category covers all the world events this week with a psychoanalytic slant for you to employ – from the juxtaposition of the cruelty and injustice in post WWII Europe, and the Gaza conflict, protest against crime in Argentina, General David Petraeus and psychologists helping the Obama campaign.

6) Thank you to Alicia Gutman for her letter to the Editor on Romantic and Parental Love
