Program Description/Objectives:
This conference is designed for mental health professionals involved in the treatment and management of serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and for family members and consumers interested in furthering their knowledge of these illnesses. At the conclusion of the program participants will have a better understanding of the causes and effects of serious mental illness. Family members and consumers will be better able to seek out appropriate treatments and medications, to feel empowered to strive towards recovery, and to enhance the quality of their lives. Mental health professionals will be better able to apply established treatments and consider new modalities and models of treatment.
