We invite you to celebrate the release of Jeremy Safran’s latest publication, Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Therapies (published by The American Psychological Association).

Dr. Safran’s new book explores the way in which psychoanalysis, which originated in the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the end of the nineteenth century, evolved in diverse ways as it took hold in different countries, cultures, and historical eras. In addition it examines the ongoing tension between the culturally subversive threads in psychoanalysis, versus its more culturally conservative tendencies. Finally, Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Therapies presents a carefully reasoned assessment of the vital and constructive role that contemporary psychoanalytic developments can potentially have on the future of our healthcare system and culture.
The discussion (hosted by Dean Michael Schober) will take place on Thursday, April 19th from 6:00-7:30pm in Theresa Lang Community and Student Center (Arnhold Hall, 55 West 13th Street room 202) followed by a short reception with light refreshments. We would be delighted to see many in attendance and ask that you kindly RSVP at horlacnl@newschool.edu.
