MASTER CLINICIANS Series: Presenter: Richard Lasky
IPTAR West Conference Room
140 West 97th Street
March 16, Friday, 2-3:30 p.m.
Richard Lasky will present the analytic treatment of a neurotic patient with a focus on hysterical displacement mechanisms. Some examples are the generation of exaggerated emotional display and thought; the emotional use of the body; and the use of thoughts, feelings, and actions as “substitutes for themselves”. Most characteristic is the use of a general emotional relatedness that, despite its intensity, is intended to be tangential and to deflect away from the core affect. Complementary countertransference issues will be addressed.
We hope you can come!
