STEFANO BOLOGNINI, MD
PRESIDENT, ITALIAN PSYCHOANALYTIC SOCIETY
PRESIDENT-ELECT, INTERNATIONAL PSYCHOANALYTIC ASSOCIATION

“Secret Passages: Theory & Technique of The Interpsychic Relationship”

Dr. Stefano Bolognini is known for his unique capacity to hold many different theories in mind as he works with patients. Rather than aligning himself with any particular psychoanalytic school of thought, Dr. Bolognini is able to integrate and respond to the patient with fine empathic attunement. He often speaks about his and the patient’s preconscious speaking with each other. It is at this juncture of preconscious communication that Dr. Bolognini’s engagement with the patient through “secret passages” leads to the inevitable teasing out of the transference/ countertransference relationship.

Dr. Bolognini will present his own clinical work and respond to presented clinical work. His clinical examples take a microscopic focus on moments of struggle in the effort to find analytic engagement at the preconscious level. The humanistic story of the analyst and patient is illuminated in fantasy and reality.

Linking crucial therapeutic process to his emerging ideas of shared unconscious dimensions, Dr. Bolognini will provide a forum for a lively discussion between all participants. Two clinicians will present a clinical hour and, after all participants have ample time to respond, Dr. Bolognini will bring their, and his, ideas into perspective. At the end of each day, three discussants will join Dr. Bolognini for an interactive discussion with each other and the entire group.

Dr. Bolognini has more than 130 psychoanalytic publications and has published four books with a fifth out this year.
*IN KEEPING WITH DR. BOLOGNINI’S UNIQUE CAPACITY TO ENGAGE IN SUCH A LIVELY AND FRUITFUL DIALOGUE THE CONFERENCE IS LIMITED TO 60 PARTICIPANTS TO ALLOW FOR IN DEPTH DISCUSSION
