Capital punishent, jailed psychoanalyst, and other trauma on InternationalPsychoanalysis.net from Sasha Rolde

Dear Colleauges,

This week, so full of socio-political unrest, is reflected on our  website in posts regarding emotional unrest, struggles and surprises,  as well as accounts of psychohistory of interest to us.
Though I urge you to follow your own interests as you scan the site,  my picks as usual tend to the clinical, the youth and the trauma  oriented spectrum of articles, hence I have chosen the following:

1) The plight of our often not initially disturbed and talented youth,  as reflected in Suicide Draws Attention to Gay Bullying.

 2) I urge all to read ***What Is Madness*** by Darian Leader, who, says  Jactuline Rose in the Guardian, ***is best known as elegant populariser  of French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan. He is also one of the most  effective campaigning voices against these developments in the  treatment of mental disorder. “Gone,” he writes in this important new  book on madness, “is the idea of a complex psychic causality or even  of an interior life.” An “ethical reversal” based on an illusion *** the  belief that internal life can be objectively measured *** has usurped  the role of sensitivity to human speech.

 psychoanalyst, Rafah Nashed

 5) Trauma and PTSD can take many forms: Lost at sea
Piracy and the psychological difficulties it creates for merchant  mariners caught my interest. (written by Stuart Garfinkle).

6) The Death Penalty and the effect on all involved is of special  interest -please read ***the Indefensible punishment*** and Stephen  Richards***s very pertinent and thoughtful
 contributions.
