COLLOQUIUM with ANDREA CELENZA PHD, OCTOBER 29TH
“The Guilty Pleasure of Erotic Countertransference: Searching for Radial True” Sponsored by the Ethics Committee of the NYU Postdoctoral Program
Dr Andrea Celenza will speak about the meaning and enactment of erotic countertransference in clinical process, and its constructive as well as destructive potential. Professor at Harvard Medical School, faculty of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Massachusetts Institute of Psychoanalysis, Dr. Celenza is the author of Sexual Boundary Violations: Therapeutic, Supervisory and Academic Contexts and of numerous papers on therapists who have engaged in sexual misconduct. This promises to be an exciting program on a challenging and important topic.
Dr. Celenza’s talk will be followed on Saturday morning October 30 from 10 to 12:30 by a clinical case seminar, in which Dr. Celenza and participants will share and discuss clinical cases involving erotic transference and/or boundary issues. Space is limited and members of the NYU will be given priority. The colloquium on October 29 is open to all without charge. The workshop on October 30 will be a small group- first come first served- with a $50 fee. Members of the NYU community will be given priority.
