OPEN HOUSE & CLINICAL PRESENTATION
FOR THOSE CONSIDERING POSTGRADUATE TRAINING

Clinical Costs and Gains of the Therapist’s Vacation
Wednesday, June 16, 2010
1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

This presentation explores the dynamics between the therapist and the patient before and after an announced vacation. The patient was a 23 year-old male with a history of troubled relationships, abandonment and rage responses, who suffered from depression.  The therapist’s vacation became a repetition of the patient’s turbulent past.  Particular emphasis will be placed on both transference and countertransference reactions, how they were employed in the treatment and how they served to deepen the treatment.

PRESENTER: Rosemarie Verderame, L.M.S.W. is a graduate of The Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy’s Adult Program.  She is on the Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and The Metropolitan Society of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists.  She is a member of The National Association of Social Workers.  Ms. Verderame is currently a staff therapist at The Fifth Ave Center.
